Jill Flynn

I’m good :)
Sarah Andrus
24:34
What is the space allowed for cloud recording?
Collin Sage
25:03
Cloud Recording has an indirect limitation:
Collin Sage
25:10
1GB per user in a shared pool
Noel Duckworth
25:23
If I set up a zoom meeting using my ID and then for some reason cannot attend the meeting myself, how can I allow a colleague to launch the meeting?
Collin Sage
25:41
@Noel, you can set that person as an alternative host
Collin Sage
25:47
Danny will showcase that in the scheduling section
Tara Tracy
28:27
what does be on same account mean to set an alt. host? Is that the UD account or an individual Zoom acct?
Collin Sage
28:54
UD account
Collin Sage
29:22
So, a fellow UD colleague
Stacy Weile
30:04
The UD account includes students, so you could make a TA an alternative host
Michael Fernbacher
31:50
If our dowloading ability is controlled by IT, would we need to contact them to add the Outlook/Chrome/Firefox functions?
Noel Duckworth
31:50
Can you explain what the alternative host can do? Say I am setting up a zoom meeting as part of administrative support for a Dean, etc. but I will not be attending the meeting. How challenging is it for others not familiar w/zoom functions to launch the meeting if I'm not part of it
Collin Sage
32:06
The alternative host can launch and host a meeting without the original host.
Jill Flynn
32:22
If we had already installed the Zoom Desktop before UD purchased the institutional subscription (and used our UD address), will the new privileges be there?
Collin Sage
32:23
Basically - they can perform all of the same functions as the original host (unless the original host connects first)
Collin Sage
32:47
It’s very easy to launch a zoom meeting. They’ll click on the join link, and Zoom will recognize them if they’re logged in
Carlton Cooper
34:32
Does this app intergrate easily with Canvas?
Collin Sage
34:52
We do have an LTI integration with Canvas
Stacy Weile
35:10
The Zoom Desktop Client is the same. It doesn’t matter if you had it before we purchased the system for all of UD. Your account will migrate in the first time you use it.
Carlton Cooper
35:33
thanks, do the students need the Zoom app so I can have office hours online?
Jill Flynn
35:40
Thanks, Stacy!
Stacy Weile
36:04
For those with machines that are controlled by IT, we will automatically update the Zoom client for you. If you need the calendar installs, please contact your administrator.
Stacy Weile
36:38
We have already integrated with our Canvas system. You might need to turn it on in your settings
Meghan Biery
36:48
When I tried to change a few settings, it said "user not exist"...
Stacy Weile
37:16
Meghan, try logging out and back in again. I’ve found that some settings are blocked the first time.
Collin Sage
37:29
Meghan, was this on the Web Portal? May be a cache issue
Meghan Biery
37:56
Stacy - that fixed it! Thanks
Collin Sage
38:23
@Carlton, I’m a student myself at a CSU, and I recommend students use the desktop client for Zoom
Collin Sage
38:46
Great for office hours & group projects
Michael Fernbacher
39:02
When might you update the Zoom client. I have "Skype Meeting in Outlook now, but not Zoom.
Stacy Weile
40:22
Students do not need their own host account to join your meeting. Just give them the link to your meeting room. They will need to install the plug-in that will download automatically to their machines.
Carlton Cooper
40:29
Thanks Collin...so I can put a link to download zoom app on my canvas site for my students.
Collin Sage
40:44
Right - although they don’t need it, like Stacy mentioned
Collin Sage
40:58
I personally found that my cohort were less likely to use it without being made more aware of it
Carlton Cooper
42:08
this is awesome...thanks Collin and Stacey..
Tara Tracy
43:04
is there a difference between co-host and alternate host?
Collin Sage
43:13
Yes!
Collin Sage
43:25
A co-host is set after the meeting starts. An alternative host is set *before*
Collin Sage
43:36
An alternative host can launch the meeting on their own. A co-host cannot
Stacy Weile
45:00
Check with your administrator to see how often the machines are updated. Each office has a different policy.
Tara Manal
45:53
When chat log is enabled does it save only everyone chats or all inc. private? Does the host get all those in the end?
Collin Sage
46:07
Everyone chats, but *not* private messages
Collin Sage
46:41
Private messages sent to you, the host, however, are saved
Kate Cowperthwait
47:19
can I assume that I cannot use the draw feature because I'm not logged in, correct?
Collin Sage
48:09
The annotation is available either way - it’s available at the top of your screen -> view options -> annotate
Collin Sage
48:16
Although, Danny just disabled it, so you won’t see it now
Tom Ilvento
48:49
Can I uses Zoom to create recording to share with a class? No audience, just me
Collin Sage
49:01
Yes, you sure can!
Tom Ilvento
49:17
And the translator with give a narrative?
Tom Ilvento
49:34
I mean a transscript
Collin Sage
49:47
The auto transcription will provide text, but please note it’s not 100% accurate
Tom Ilvento
49:56
got it! Thanks
Collin Sage
50:01
So, if you’re intending on providing a high-quality academic recording, you’ll need to review it
Stacy Weile
50:02
Yes, Tom. Contact me once this is over and I’ll walk you through it. Basically, you can use the new My Media and Media Gallery in Canvas. sweile@udel.edu
Collin Sage
50:13
Fortunately, you can make edits to the Transcript
Collin Sage
50:30
It often misses acronyms, names, or fast-spoken words
Tom Ilvento
50:45
Are there options for the recordings? Like the quality level for audio and video
Collin Sage
50:49
It cuts down on manually writing the transcription by quite a lot
Collin Sage
51:01
No option for ‘quality level’ but there are options
Collin Sage
52:55
@Tom, you can also select a more efficient recording method
Collin Sage
53:09
For instance, Record active speaker with shared screen is one of the most efficient options
Collin Sage
54:13
Disable HD on your video, as well
Tom Ilvento
54:39
Cool, thanks
Jill Flynn
57:08
Thank you!
Patti Dooling
57:17
Thank you!
Anna Moshier
57:25
Will you please send the link to this recording?
Sarah Andrus
57:46
Thank you!
Thomas Julian
57:56
Thank you!
Collin Sage
58:11
https://zoom.us/download also works
Carlton Cooper
58:19
Thanks Dan and everyone
Collin Sage
58:19
There’s a Mobile App section
Stacy Weile
58:24
The link to the recording will be included on our UD webpage. Go to the main log in page (udel.edu/zoom) and click the Help button.
Anna Moshier
58:39
Thank you!
sue brewster
01:00:50
I do not see the poll
Stacy Weile
01:02:04
You don’t see the poll he demonstrated, or you don’t see how to create a poll?
Collin Sage
01:02:24
As a participant, we won’t have the “polling” button
Stacy Weile
01:03:08
You must turn on poling and breakout rooms in your meeting settings
sue brewster
01:04:42
now his picture came back - I never saw the poll at all
Stacy Weile
01:06:27
Carlton, you can always contact me for help. I’d be happy to sit in with you.
Collin Sage

Collin Sage

All they do is click the link, input their name, and then they’re connected!
